Wireframe and Dark Patterns

Wireframe

For the wireframe I designed the most essential features:

  • Non numerical time shifting
  • Task management
  • Task prioritization
  • Task input

When opening up the app, the user will be brought to the view for the day they are on. The circles represent tasks. The size of each circle represents the scale of the task and how time consuming it is. The colour represents its urgency, the greener the less urgent, and the redder the more urgent. Once the user pinches in on the screen or simply press the Your Week button on the bottom, the screen will pan out to the week view.

The week view shows how much work the user has in the week. Swipe right to go through the week. The bar on the left side will represent the busyness of that particular week. Swiping downwards will present more of the coming weeks which the users can also customize.

To add a task the user can choose to add by pressing on the plus sign in the daily view and then setting the appropriate parametres. A task can even be broken up to sub tasks by double tapping on the circle. It’s optional to add a description or due date. Once everything is set and then the user presses done, the circle will be filled with the appropriate colour and size and added to the pool of tasks.

Dark Patterns

This video was pretty interesting in a way that it really exposes the psychology behind company decisions. These dark patterns are pretty much present in almost all mobile games I’ve played. The example given on the game that misleads the player to purchase a way to get revived is something that’s seen in so many games. But I never knew that companies like Amazon would make something such as deleting your account as hard as it is. This really relates back to digital consent as Amazon is making it difficult for the user to clear their presence on their sites.
